Summerfield Stars Travel Program
Competitive travel baseball and softball for dedicated athletes.
The Summerfield STARS are competitive travel teams made up of talented and dedicated players who are committed to developing their skills and growing within their sport.
STARS players participate in a more competitive environment that requires a significant commitment from athletes and families throughout the season.

Baseball Program
STARS baseball teams hold annual tryouts during June and July.
The baseball season runs from August 1 through July 31. Once selected for a team, each player makes a one-year commitment beginning in August and concluding the following July.
For baseball eligibility, player age is determined as of May 1.
Softball Program
STARS softball teams hold annual tryouts during September and October.
The softball season runs from January 1 through December 31. Once selected for a team, each player makes a one-year commitment beginning in January and concluding in December.
Softball eligibility is based on the player’s actual birth year.
Program Commitment
Practices
Teams typically hold two to three mandatory practices each week.
Tournaments
Teams generally compete in two to three tournaments per month, which may require travel.
Training
Winter training may take place at the coach’s discretion. Individualized instructor-led training is also strongly encouraged.
Numerous tournaments are played throughout the fall, spring, and summer seasons. Participation requires consistent attendance, effort, communication, and a strong commitment from both players and families.

Seasonal Tryouts
The STARS program is well known throughout Summerfield and the greater Triad region. Seasonal tryouts are held for several baseball and softball teams.
Each player is required to attend only one tryout date for their age group. Baseball age is determined as of May 1, while softball placement is based on the player’s birth year.
